From Land to Legacy

When co-founders Jonathan Lusk and Taylor Jackson started BirdDog in 2022, they weren’t chasing a trend—they were solving a problem they lived. Jonathan, a former Goldman Sachs wealth manager raised in rural North Texas, saw families struggling to hold onto the land that defined them.

Taylor, a builder and outdoorsman, just wanted a way to book a hunt without endless phone calls and guesswork. Together, they built BirdDog to make land ownership simpler, more transparent, and more rewarding.

What began with a handful of hunts has grown into a movement. Based in Chappell Hill TX, BirdDog now helps landowners across the country discover new ways to steward and sustain their properties through what we call conservation capitalism—the belief that doing good for the land and doing well financially can be the same thing.

We connect landowners with tools and opportunities that generate real income—hunting, farming, Section 180 tax optimization, carbon, insurance, and more—so that caring for the land also means strengthening a family’s future.

Our name comes from the loyal, instinctive hunting dog that points the way for others to succeed.

That’s how we see our work: steady, focused, and committed. We’re guiding people toward what they can’t see, towards what’s possible. Every landowner, every ranch, every acre represents potential waiting to be revealed—and we exist to help find it and bring it to life.

Our mission is to bridge the gap between complexity and clarity, between opportunity and action.

By combining data, technology, and experience, we make it easier for landowners to see their property for what it truly is: not just soil and fences, but a living legacy. We believe true ownership isn’t about possession—it’s about partnership with the land, and the responsibility that comes with it.

At BirdDog, we lead with instinct, serve with integrity, and work with devotion to every landowner who trusts us to help them write the next chapter of their story. Because land is more than an asset—it’s a bond between generations, a reflection of hard work and hope, and a promise to the future.
